About Client
TAKOMA, simplified joint stock company based in Paris, was founded on equity in February 2000. TAKOMA, works closely with engineering companies in Aerospace & Automotive sector, providing collaborative solutions to design-develop-excahnge communication & learning documents.
Business Need & Challenges
TAKOMA extensively uses the Moodle LMS system to deploy SCORM based courses, for which TAKOMA is commissioned by its corporate Automative & Aerospace clients based in Europe. As Moodle is an open-source solution, it really doesn’t offer an engaging experience for its users to stay on. Also its hard to manage the Course Tracker, and custom workflows with in the systems. Another need was to deliver desktop like application across the web for its corporate administrators to use it over web and enhance process productivity.
Our Solution
TAKOMA contacted Esberi, where we helped architect and develop the application, keeping in mind the constraints the Moodle system had. Esberi develop an API and Web-Service layer over the Moodle system, and connected it with the Workflow & Administration Flex based solution, in order to make the process more engaging. Also to implement features like Lazy-Loading, Pagination, Data transactions and implement custom workflows, AMFPHP provided the Remoting interface for developer and business managers to design and implement new services and workflows over the AMF channel.
Technology Stack
The following frameworks/platforms were selected to architect and develop the web based LMS back-office solution.
- Adobe Flex 3
- Cairngorm MVC Framework
- Web Services (SOAP)
- AMFPHP
- Moodle
- PHP 5
Benefits
User experience and process ease were the two benefits delivered to the end-users, thus making the application more workflow centric, and improvised on how Administrators managed different instances of Moodle installations.
